Writer, teacher, and digital artist, Jen Colclough is the author of Our Little Agonies, a poetry collection slated for publication in Spring 2025 by Montreal Publishing Co. She is also an active member of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia's Writers Council.
Jen’s work has been featured in numerous publications including CRAFT Literary, Tabula Rasa Review, Porch to Porch: A Maritime Haiku Anthology, Heimat Review, ionosphere, MORIA, and Free the Verse. In 2025, Jen recieved Pushcart nominations in two categories: Creative Nonfiction and Poetry. Amplicon Press nominated Jen’s poem “Connoisseurs of Lightness,” while CRAFT Literary nominated her essay, "The Lighthouse Keepers.”
In Winter 2024, Jen Colclough held the Shannon Residency at Beinn Mhàbu in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She is currently querying a debut historical fiction novel and developing a serial drama for a major streaming service.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jen Colclough attended Acadia University, earning a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Classics followed by an MA in Classics from Western University. At Western, Jen researched Classical historiography through the lens of trauma theory, specializing in Thucydides. Her research was funded by a Canada Graduate Scholarship allocated by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Her article "Memorialization in Thucydides’ Plague Episode," appeared in Vol. 11 Iss. 1 of the Journal of Ancient History in May 2023. In 2020, she was interviewed by Dr. Raj Persaud for the Raj Persaud: In Conversation Podcast on the topic of pandemic trauma in the Ancient World.
